# 11.2 First Sale Expectations

Once your stock is fulfilable, it's live, but that doesn't mean a sale happens immediately. Here's what's realistic to expect.

## Timing Varies by Product

Some products sell within hours of going live, especially if you're competing on an already-established listing with steady demand (which is exactly what the 7 Gates model in Module 7 is designed to find). Others take a few days. If a product passed analysis showing consistent sales velocity, that velocity is a guide, not a guarantee, your first sale could land anywhere within that pattern.

## New Seller Factors

A brand-new seller account sometimes takes slightly longer to start winning the Buy Box on shared listings, even with a competitive price, simply because Amazon's algorithm hasn't built up any account history yet. This evens out quickly, usually within the first few sales, and isn't something to worry about or try to work around.

## What Not to Do

Don't panic-drop your price the moment a product doesn't sell in the first day. If your analysis was sound, give it the time the sales velocity data suggested. Repeatedly cutting price in the first 48 hours erodes margin for no good reason and doesn't meaningfully speed up that first sale in most cases.

## What a Healthy First Week Looks Like

A mix of products where some sell within days and others take a bit longer, roughly tracking what your analysis predicted. If every single product is dead silent well past its expected velocity, that's worth re-checking against your original analysis, not immediately assuming something's wrong with your account.

## Where You'll See It

Sales show up in **Seller Central → Reports → Business Reports**, and in the Payments section covered in 11.3. You'll get an email notification for your very first order too, worth a screenshot for the memory books.
